Recruiter/Grant Writer

Position Overview

​The student Recruiter plays a key role in expanding TEK Center’s impact across Eastern Kentucky and beyond. This position is responsible not only for connecting with prospective students, but also for supporting the growth and expansion of TEK Center through community outreach, relationship building, and grant development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Community Outreach & Recruitment

  • ï‚· Represent TEK Center at high schools, job fairs, career centers, and community events.

  • ï‚· Deliver presentations that highlight TEK Center’s skilled trades programs, certifications, and fast-track career pathways.

  • ï‚· Actively engage with prospective students interested in trades such as electrical, welding, carpentry and heavy equipment.

 

Student Guidance & Information Sharing

  • ï‚· Provide clear, accurate information on program offerings, admissions requirements, financial aid options, and career pathways.

  •  ï‚·Serve as a knowledgeable resource for prospective students and their families.

 

Relationship Building & Community Partnerships

  • ï‚· Build and maintain strong partnerships with high school counselors, community organizations, workforce agencies, and regional employers.

  • ï‚· Strengthen TEK Center’s presence within local communities and support long-term enrollment pipelines.

Grant Writing & Development Support

  • ï‚· Assist in the identification of funding opportunities that align with TEK Center’s mission and program needs.

  • ï‚· Contribute to the preparation and writing of grant proposals that support program expansion, equipment acquisition, scholarships, and community impact initiatives.

  • ï‚· Collaborate with leadership to gather data, success stories, and documentation needed for grant submissions and reporting.

Application & Enrollment Support

  • ï‚· Guide prospective students through each step of the application and enrollment process.

  •  ï‚·Help applicants understand documentation requirements, deadlines, and next steps.

  • All other duties as assigned

 

Recruitment Tracking & Data Management

  • ï‚· Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, inquiries, and prospective student interactions.

  •  ï‚·Provide regular updates on recruitment trends to support TEK Center’s strategic enrollment planning.

Skills & Qualifications

  • ï‚· Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  •  Proficient in Microsoft office suite

  • ï‚· High-energy interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport across diverse backgrounds.

  • ï‚· Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple events, deadlines, and follow-up tasks.

  • ï‚· Familiarity with skilled trades, vocational education, workforce development, or willingness to learn quickly.

  • ï‚· Experience with grant writing or technical writing is preferred (or willingness to train).

  • ï‚· Comfortable presenting to groups and representing TEK Center in community and professional settings.

​

Work Environment & Schedule

  • ï‚· Position includes office-based work along with frequent regional travel for outreach and recruitment.

  • ï‚· Occasional evening and weekend hours required for events and community engagement.
